Many couples date for at least a year before making a long term commitment. For some, this means getting married and moving in together. Other people eschew marriage and opt to live together as a couple. Either way, this signifies a huge commitment on the part of the couple. They have decided to join their lives and contain it in one home.

Living together is not always easy to do. Two people will always have different furniture, favorite collections and other personal items. They are often used to living alone or with family. Their commitment may be very serious, but meshing two households together into one requires patience, some sacrifice and a good sense of humor. Each one must be willing to give up items that will not fit into their new home. They must be patient with each other when these types of sacrifices are necessary. They must approach the entire exercise with humor as they forge a new life as one.
